Today both Rooms 12 and 15 worked with some word problems involving decimals. Room 12 focused on checkbook problems, while Room 15 took a look at problems that formed sequences or patterns.
Homework for Room 12 is Lesson 3.11 in the Practice Book, while Room 15 has Lesson 3.10. In Science Room 15 continued to study forest and grassland ecosystems. Room 12 did not have Science, but did get back there paragraphs on abiotic/biotic factors. Their second drafts are due on Wednesday.

Today we congratulated a new Student of the Month and a new DREAM student, also from Room 12. Room 15 had a new Student of the Month crowned, too, and we had an assembly to announce all of the names.
I got to hold up the "M' of the DREAM sign. In Math Room 12 examined patterns with decimal sequences, while Room 15 looked at subtraction of decimals. In Science Room 12 studied ecosystems in a little more detail, while Room 15 missed Science due to the assembly. Today we studied subtraction of decimals in Room 12, while addition of decimals was the topic for Room 15. The students worked in groups to play some review games after they learned their topics.
Room 12 homework is Practice Book Lesson 3.9. Room 15 has Lesson 3.8. In Science we began looking into forest ecosystems, and completed some work in groups of three. Tomorrow is the Student of the Month assembly at 1:30. Who shall it be? Room 12 and 15 students finished viewing a slide show this afternoon about ecosystems with little to no rain. These included grasslands, tundra, and deserts. Did you know that Antarctica is actually the largest desert in the world?
In Math, Room 15 studied the addition of decimals, while Room 15 looked into different ways to estimate with decimals. Homework for Room 12 includes their two-paragraph essays in Science on how biotic and abiotic factors affect animals in an ecosystem, and Practice Book 3.8. Room 15 students have Practice Book 3.7. |
