Tonight both homerooms should be sure to study for the Science test tomorrow. Both rooms also have a worksheet on multiplication of decimals to do for Math homework.
Tomorrow we are invited to participate in a Class Spirit Day, where students can wear stripes or polka dots to school to show their spirit. Wait until the kids see the outfit Mr. Mistretta pulls out of the closet!

Both classes took a math test today. It'll be the last major grade of the first term. Room 15 has worksheet ("Ice Caves") for homework. Room 12 has no written assignment.
In Science, Room 15 looked at aquatic ecosystems, while Room 12 studied a little in partners for the Friday test. No written homework, but all students should be using the study sheet and/or Quizlet to study. There's a link to the Quizlet in the November 13 entry, and a copy of the study sheet to download on the "Documents" page. A notice went home with the children today about parent-teacher conferences. It's printed on bright yellow-green paper, so it's hard to miss in the kids' "Home Folders." The notice has directions for how to sign up for a conference with Miss LeBlanc and I on December 6th or 7th.
The Science test is still scheduled for Friday, but the Math test has been moved back to Wednesday, as we spent the math period today starting a lengthy science observation (earthworms!) Here's a link to a Quizlet that will help in studying for the Science test In Science class, Room 15 studied forest ecosystems and played a game to review the ecosystems we've explored so far. They did such a good job that they earned a Classroom Woolie!
Room 12 got into some videos on aquatic ecosystems. In Math, both classes practiced their addition and subtraction of decimals. Some students got to work on some challenging problem solving, too.... though a few of them claimed it wasn't a challenge at all! No homework tonight. Enjoy the long weekend! Today we had an assembly for Veterans Day. One of our student's grandfathers came to talk to our class about his six years in the Marine Corps. Then we all went to the gym to hear patriotic songs and honor all of the veterans who visited the school.
The class's behavior was so good that I gave Room 12 a homework pass for the night in Math. Their Science paragraphs, however, are still due tomorrow (second drafts). Room 15 has Practice Book 3.11, both sides, for homework in math. Several students are still working on their first or second drafts of the abiotic/biotic factors essay. |
