Today students took a math test and entered their answers into Google Forms. This let them see their grades immediately instead of waiting until I correct answers written on paper. It was our first time taking a test like that, and it was a big success. Students identified several answers that the computer marked as incorrect but were actually right! So I've fixed the grades up, and they should be viewable via Google Classroom tonight.
No homework for the weekend. Some students are choosing to take home the picture of a plant and its parts that they've been working on in Science class, but it isn't a requirement.

Today I was absent for the morning classes, so taught some of the mat during the afternoon science period. The children also had Second Steps/ALICE class during part of the morning.
So the only homework is to be ready for the math test. Look over the practice test, especially the ones you got wrong, and be ready to get things right tomorrow. In math class today, we worked in the ST Math program and prepared a bit for our Friday test on Chapter 1. Homework is to finish the practice test I gave out in class.
In Science, Room 12 has to complete page 326 in our Elevate textbook tonight, a diagram and a Lesson Check. I ran off copies of this page and gave them to the kids so they wouldn't have to carry the heavy textbooks home with them. FLANNEL FRIDAY COMING UP- SHOW YOUR CLASS SPIRIT THIS FRIDAY! Today we took another look at photosynthesis in Science class and started a drawing of a plant in the process of making its own food. Homework is to finish the diagram and "Lesson Check" on p. 326 of our Elevate Science books. I made copies of the page for everyone to take home so they wouldn't need to lug the book back and forth to and from school.
In Math we have Lesson 1-12 in the Practice Book tonight, both sides, as we finish up Chapter 1 in preparation for Friday's math test. In Science class today, we built glucose "molecules" from marshmallows and toothpicks. A fine time was had by almost all!
In math we reviewed the order of operations. Homework was Lesson 1.11 in the Practice Book, both sides. Remember to "show the work" for all problems, and list the steps for each problem on the front side. There's a math test on Friday on Chapter 1. Study materials will be sent home later in the week. |
