In Math today, Room 12 students worked on some problem solving with fractions, while Room 15 students practiced subtraction of mixed numbers with renaming, easily the most difficult of the topics in Chapter 6 of our Go Math book. Room 15 has the "Pizza Party" worksheet to finish for homework.
In Science, Room 12 finished their work on igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock, and Room 15 made some progress toward that end.

In Math today, Room 12 worked on subtracting mixed numbers with renaming, the most challenging of the chapter topics. No homework tonight (part of our "Boosterthon" reward from last week).
Room 15 continued to work on addition of mixed numbers, and some of the students still need to do Practice Book Lesson 6.6. In Science, Room 12 reviewed igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock. Room 15 had Second Steps instead of Science class. Both Math classes finished their Chapter 6 mid-chapter quizzes today and practiced a little with the addition and subtraction of mixed numbers. Room 15 has Practice Book 6.6 to complete for homework. Room 12 is in a "no homework week" reward week due to their excellent Boosterthon incentive performance.
In Science, Room 15 started looking into igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock. Room 12 did not have Science class today. In Math today, Room 12 students reviewed for and took a quiz on the first half of Chapter 6. Room 15 students will do the same tomorrow. Room 15 homework is the worksheet, "Pillows With Sunglasses." Room 12 has no math homework.
Climate brochure project is due tomorrow. Please let me know if your 5th grader needs an extension due to the upheaval of the snow day(s). Room 15 students took a look at addition and subtraction of fractions with unlike denominators today, while Room 12 did some review for a quiz tomorrow. Quiz will be on Lessons 6.1-6.5 in the Go Math book.
Room 12 homework is the worksheet, "Pillows with Sunglasses," while Room 15 has Practice Book 6.5, both sides. In Science we worked for the last time on the climate projects. The project/brochure is due on Friday and can now be completed at home. |
