Happy Friday!
What a week. Who could have guessed last week that we'd all be learning how to do "remote learning" this week? I want to say again how very proud I am of everyone who's tried to participate, work, and learn during this difficult and unexpected school closure time. Today we're going to focus on some online learning. In Math, sign in to iReady and instead of going on the "path" they recommend, do the assignment I've left there for you.... fractions and line plots. It's interesting, it's challenging, and it's something you can handle because of the fraction work we've done already this year. In Science, go to the link below and view the Bill Nye video about energy. Then send me an e-mail with TWO NEW things you learned about energy. I'll gather everyone's comments and post some of the interesting ones over the weekend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GmxxAogTt8 Then enjoy your weekend. No homework unless you e-mail me to request some. Remember, I'll be on Google Meet at 1:00 today to answer questions and hear comments about the week's work. The link to participate is in an e-mail I sent to all of you.

Happy Thursday, everyone!
I'm so very proud of those of you who have been keeping up with assignments and school work during this school closure. Your sense of responsibility and your effort have been tremendous. Keep up the good work! Today's work is posted in the Documents tab. You'll see an answer key to yesterday's workbook pages. Use it to correct your work, and put the work into the folder you're keeping for work to pass in when we get back to school. Then do the Mega Morning Math, which is also on the Documents tab. In Science, there's an article about solar panels, since before Friday we were studying the different ways people get energy. Be sure to do the multiple choice questions after the article. You can write down your answers as a comment to this post. Thanks for all of your e-mails, comments, and questions-- keep them coming! Stay safe and have a great day. Good morning everyone!
On the third morning of "remote learning," I hope that you're all in good spirits and that you're keeping up with your assignments. The longer we're out of school, the greater chance there is that you'll lose the skills you worked so hard to master this year. Keep at it and ask me questions if you need to In Math today: 1) Do Practice Book pages P49 and P50, a review of Chapter 2 (Long division, oh joy!). If you don't have the practice book, use the PDF file I left in the "Documents" tab on this website. 2) Do 30 minutes of iReady. Do whatever topic it gives you. It's designed to give you the topics you had trouble with on the iReady assessment in January. In Science: Use the article in the Documents section (labeled "A Special Kind of Matter" to answer the two questions printed below the article. Print it out and put it in your work folder. I'm available at different hours today because I need to go help my stepdaughter move out of her college dorm (they're closing her school for the rest of the spring). I'll be here from 8:30-11 a.m, then from 4:00-6:30 this afternoon, for questions and comments. Stay safe and have a great day! https://mysteryscience.com/earth/mystery-2/groundwater-as-a-natural-resource/123?code=NDEwMDY3MDQ&t=student

Be sure to put your name after your comment. 2) Complete "Morning Math" by doing the problems on the worksheet, also on the "Documents" tab. . Print the worksheet and save it in your work folder. 3) Use Clever to sign on to ST Math. Work in ST Math for 30 minutes. Science: 1) Use the link below to view the Mystery Science about water. Mystery Doug has made all of his material free to students while we're closed. Watch it until it gets to the "Activity." Answer the questions labeled "Discuss," right before the activity. Answer them by making a comment on the "Mystery Science replies" message on this page. I'm available during school hours for any questions via e-mail or the Google Classroom. Have a great Tuesday! |
