Today the rain held off just long enough for us to get outside for recess. I hate to jinx us, but it doesn't look like tomorrow will hold anything but rain and indoor recess. If anyone has any more used board games or indoor activities to donate, our classroom (Room 12) could really use them!
Today we started a chapter on Ecosystems in Science, and learned how to compare and order decimals in Math. The class did a great job. Both Rooms 12 and 15 have Practice Book Lesson 3.3, both sides, for homework.

Today we covered the place value and expanded form of decimals in more detail. Both classes have Practice Book Lesson 3.2 (both sides) for homework tonight.
The Teacher-Student (Student-Teacher?) basketball game and fundraiser is this Thursday evening from 5pm-7pm. Come and watch Mr. Mistretta try to dunk a basketball! Just kidding. Good morning-- to show our class spirit, 5th grade students are encouraged to wear GREEN for the half day of school on Friday. Let's see how GREEN we can make our classroom for the end of the week!
I'll post the homework for the day after school from now on instead of in the morning. It's easier to post it when I know for sure what the assignment is, instead of trying to predict before school what it might be. Tonight Room 12 had a decimals worksheet to complete, both sides. Room 15 had Practice Book Lesson 3.1, also both sides. We have a Math test this week on Chapter 2 (Long Division). Room 12 will take it on Tuesday, and Room 15 will take it on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how we're all doing on Monday.
There's a Science test coming up this Thursday, too. Here's a link to the Quizlet for it: quizlet.com/234071800/chapter-2-science-test-flash-cards/ You can find the study sheet on the Downloads page of this blog. Today in Science class we'll take a look at instinctive and learned animal behaviors and how to distinguish between them. In Math we'll revisit the word problems we've been working on that focus on how to handle remainders when the problem required division to solve.
