Room 15 worked in teams today to build "kitten carriers" as part of our STEAM curriculum, then spent Science class going over some MCAS questions from previous years in preparation for tomorrow's test.
Room 12 did the same with their Science class, while in math they prepared for a quiz on the first half of Chapter 10. Quiz will either be tomorrow or Monday, probably the latter to give us more time to review.

In Math today, Room 15 worked some more on converting back and forth between measurements, this time concentrating on gallons, quarts, pints, and cups. Room 12 took their math time to complete their "Kitten Carrier" STEAM projects.
In Science, both classes watched a Bill Nye video on Phases of Matter to help them refresh their memories for the upcoming MCAS Science/Technology test on Friday and next Tuesday. I didn't assign homework. Today, Room 12 students continued their study of conversions within the customary measurement system, focusing on pounds, ounces, and tons. Room 15 looked at customary units of length.
In Science, both classes worked with my Google Classroom page to answer questions about static electricity and circuits. 3rd term Progress reports must be returned signed by Monday. Today in Math, Room 15 began a lesson on conversions between customary measurements of length (miles, feet, etc). Room 12 studied similar material with customary measurements of volume (gallon, pint, cup, etc)
In Science we have enough donated supplies from Room 12 students to begin a STEAM project next week. This class also has their Energy test tomorrow, so study up! A link to the study sheet can be found in the "Documents" section of this website, and on my Google Classroom as well. We're almost there with Room 15, too... need a few more shoeboxes and it's a go. Today we got a LOT of supplies from Room 12 parents for the STEAM project we might break out next week. If the progress continues, we should be able to start things on Monday.
Room 15 reviewed Chapter 9 in the math book today, then had a quiz on the first part of the chapter. Room 12 went on to Chapter 10 to convert between customary measurements of length (feet, inches, etc.) Science test is on Friday for Room 12 students. Links to the Quizlet and study sheets are on the Google Classroom page and in the Documetns section of this website. |
