I didn't give any written homework for the weekend. In class we took our vocabulary quizzes during Science, and reviewed multidigit multiplication and numerical expressions during math.
Students who did not pass in Morning Math today can find a copy to print on the Google Classroom. Have a fine weekend!

Today in Math we studied numerical expressions. I gave no math homework due to "Back to School Night" tonight, but students who have not finished their Morning Math for the week need to get it done tonight. It's a double sided worksheet and can be found under the Morning Math heading in the Classroom section of the Google Classroom.
Science vocabulary quiz is tomorrow, so the children do need to study for that. The study sheet is on the Google Classroom as well. Tonight's math homework is Lesson 1.9 (we're skipping 1.8) in the Practice book, both sides. It's a lesson about problem solving, which often leads to frustration from both students and parents. If your 5th grader spends 30 minutes on the lesson and still doesn't understand what to do, write a note on the page and let them come to school with the assignment incomplete. It's their homework, not yours, and you shouldn't have to spend an hour and more hovering over your 5th grader to make sure every last word problem is correctly done.
In Science, students should continue to study their vocabulary for Friday's quiz. There's a copy of the study sheet on the Google Classroom. In math class on Tuesday, both classes studied multi-digit multiplication with a review of what they learned in fourth grade. Homework is Practice Book 10-7, both sides.
Science vocabulary quiz is still on track for Friday. The study sheet can be found on the Google Classroom. Today in math we used Lesson 10-4 in the Go Math book to learn about powers of ten. The homework is Practice Book Lesson 10-4, both sides.
In Science we continued working on our posters to illustrate where the food we eat gets its energy. We also finished planting various bean, squash, and corn seeds in our homemade greenhouses. They'll be available for your perusal on Back to School Night, on September 20th. Remember to please sign or initial student agendas when we have written homework, to indicate that you're aware that the children had homework. I'll get in touch with parents and guardians myself about missing homework assignments in school. |
